This year we will be supporting Street Teens in our continued endeavor to promote community service within our organization. Street Teens is a non-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to assisting homeless, abandoned and at-risk youth, ages 12-21, in the Las Vegas Valley. The primary goal is to meet the survival needs of the youth by providing basic necessities in a safe, compassionate environment. Street Teens is able to provide access to health care, educational and employment resources through their drop-in center and by actively collaborating with community partners.
Street Teens is a 501( c) (3) corporation, founded in January 2000 by David and Rosario Mereaux. Originally offering resources through street outreach, the organization has now grown to provide a safe haven seven days per week. The Sanctuary, the drop-in center opened on October 1, 2001, serving the homeless youth from 4pm to 8pm daily.
This month we are asking members to bring in microwavable frozen food dinners. If this is not feasible, please consider donating grocery gift cards in any denomination. For many homeless youth, this will be their only hot meal for the day. We will also be coordinating other volunteer efforts throughout the year. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Annie Kang-Drachen at akdrachen@bouchonbistro.com or Robyn Mathis at robyn@awaxgrp.com.
